The Great Duck Race - 2025

Ducks will be sold in advance through local outlets and at the Coop on 10th and 17th May, as well as on the day for just £1 a duck. Cash prizes will be won by the first 3 ducks in each of the races. You can also give yourself more chance of winning by buying a duck in any of the special Sprint Races running throughout the event.

We have booked stalls selling refreshments, hot drinks and ice-creams as well as a Bar selling alcohol, hosted by the Coach and Horses. Remember, all profits go to the Shipston Home Nursing and FISH‘n’FROLICS (Shipston Young Anglers), so buy a duck and YOU will be helping these invaluable local organisations.

For just £50 you

· Are identified as a race sponsor by your chosen Race Name; e.g. The Bathroom Centre Cascade!

· Have your business’s name displayed in the pre-event online information, at the event and in subsequent publicity e.g. Shipston Forum

· Get a free entry in the Shipston Duck Derby Race, and your name displayed on a special duck (usual cost £20)

· Receive a Certificate to display to the community that YOUR race raised money for fantastic local causes

· The chance to win an outstanding trophy;

· Local recognition of your part in supporting our community.

The Great Duck Race -2024

Shipston Angling Club and the Stour Valley Lions held the Great Annual Shipston Great Duck Race on Sunday 19th May at Shipston Bridge. Families turned out in their hundreds to buy ducks and watch them bobbing down the River Stour in bright sunshine. Entertainment was provided through music by Big Krispy with activities including a tombola, a fairground ride, and a very popular Hook-a-duck with a win every time! The Coach and Horses, Nice Bites and Mr Whippy icecream van provided much needed refreshments throughout.

Local businesses were very generous in their sponsorship of the event, with 12 taking part in the Great Shipston Duck Derby which was won by Seccombe Estate Agents with Creature Comforts in 2nd place and Cotek Papers Ltd in 3rd place. Individual races were sponsored and we were proud to present The Coop Plunge, The Tesco Express Whirl, The Old Mill Race, The Krister Nobes Landscaping Cascades, The Fuzzy Duck Splatter and the Stour Valley Lions Roaring Rapids.

Other sponsors who contrbuted to raising money for our community, included Shipston Spokes, Richard Harvey Interiors, Cooke Watts & Co Ltd, Number One, Peter Clarke Estate Agents, Thomas Algar Bespoke Projects and The George Townhouse. Although the final total hasn't been announced as yet, it was a very successful event and all profits will be split equally between the Shipston First Responders and Fish ‘n’ Frolics (in aid of Shipston's Young Anglers).
