Taste of the Country
Artisan cheeses from around the local area
Taste of the Country has been a proud part of the Shipston on Stour community since 2006. We believe that our local British food, here in the heart of Warwickshire, is among the best and most bountiful in the world.
This July 2018 we were awarded Best Independent Retailer at the Cotswold Life Magazine Food & Drink Awards! Wowing the judges on arrival with fantastic window displays and beautiful signage outside. They enjoyed our excellent selection of local produce and our fabulous team were noted to be very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, with a clear love for the shop and its produce. "It appeared to be a thriving little business in the community!" We are incredibly proud of our local business.
"Our own range, all cooked eight miles away in our Alscot kitchen, includes everything from good, honest Fish Pie, to our rather famous iced gingerbread which you’ll find stocked everywhere from English Heritage to Eden Project. Our kitchen delivers to our shop twice a day, six days a week
– every sausage roll and flapjack is straight from the oven.
We are proud to have won two Gold Stars in the National Great Taste Awards for our Dark Chocolate Brownie (which is, incidentally, gluten free – that makes it good for you, right?).
We stock a fantastic range from local and global suppliers and artisans, which include our fabulous local suppliers; Kevin Roles Honey from Shipston on Stour, David Jowett in Long Compton, who fill our fridge with their amazing Rollright and Evenlode cheese The Salt Pig Curing Company from Chipping Norton with Salami and Chorizo. Not to forget Cotswold Gin, whose magnificent distillery is four miles away.
Looking for a hamper? We can combine your selection of our delicious products into a unique hamper and ship to anywhere in the world."
